The Columbia Police Department (CPD) has charged a 23-year-old female in connection with yesterday’s fatal shooting on Bonner Avenue.
According to Police Chief W.H. “Skip” Holbrook, Michaelynn Lewis (DOB:9-24-1996) is charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. The charges stem from a shooting that happened at approximately 1:00 a.m. (August 13, 2020) at the 1300 block of Bonner Avenue.
When CPD officers arrived on scene they found an unresponsive male in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. An officer rendered aid to the victim until EMS arrived. Once at the hospital, the victim died as a result of his injuries. Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has identified the victim as 45-year-old Tivo Richard Lee. According to an autopsy, Lee died from an upper body gunshot wound.
During the course of the investigation, a firearm and other ballistic evidence were collected from the residence. CPD consulted with the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office regarding the investigation.
All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
