By December 17, 2020Press Releases

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with another robbery investigation a month after a similar crime at the same location.

22-year-old Vintrell Thomas was arrested yesterday and charged with Strong Arm Robbery and First Degree Assault and Battery.

Today, a judge denied Thomas’ bond who remains at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

On December 6, 2020 at the parking garage at 1415 Sumter Street, Thomas is accused of hitting a 20-year-old female in face with a closed fist in an attempt to steal her wallet. After struggling with the victim, Thomas grabbed the wallet and ran from the scene.  During the incident, the female received lacerations and to her hands, face and body.

A month earlier on November 4, 2020 at the same location, Thomas is accused of approaching a 20-year-old male and pretending he had a firearm. Thomas allegedly made threats while demanding the victim’s wallet and phone before running from the scene.

Later that day, Thomas was located on Bush River Road after being accused of shoplifting from a store. During the arrest, CPD officers found that Thomas was in possession of the male victim’s cell phone.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
