Crimestoppers: Active Arrest Warrants in Fatal Shooting Investigation (Cardamon Court)

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have murder arrest warrants for the suspect wanted in connection with last month’s shooting in the Capital Heights neighborhood.

Officers are searching for 17-year-old Javion Harper. Once arrested he will be charged as an adult for Murder, Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.

** Harper should be considered armed and dangerous **

Harper is accused of arguing and fighting with the victim who has been previously identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office as Leroy Nix, III while at the 100 block of Cardamon Court on February 23, 2021. Nix was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

Initially, CPD officers were dispatched to the crime scene after receiving a ShotSpotter alert of multiple gunshots fired. While en route to the location, officers were notified about the two shooting victims.  The second male who was injured has been released from a local hospital.
