Update: Two Suspects Arrested in Property Crimes Investigations

The Columbia Police Department (CPD) Property Crimes Unit have arrested two suspects in connection with multiple Property Crimes including credit card fraud.

56-year-old David Lee Rice, Junior remains housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC) charged with multiple counts of Financial Credit Card Theft,  Financial Credit Card Fraud, Financial Identity Fraud and Larceny and Auto-Breaking.

Rice is accused of breaking into cars and stealing wallets, purses, cash and debit/credit cards. Rice is further accused of fraudulently using the debit/credit cards and purchasing multiple items at various stores in South Columbia to include Devine Street and Garners Ferry Road.

Rice’s co-defendant during some of the crimes, 53-year-old Mechelle Tolson is charged with Financial Credit Card Theft, Financial Identity Fraud and Financial Credit Card Fraud. 

Tolson is also housed at the ASGDC.

Several law enforcement partner agencies have also charged Rice with similar crimes. Rice has previous convictions for similar crimes.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty in a court of law.
