Man Charged in Criminal Sexual Conduct Investigation

The Columbia Police Department’s (CPD) Special Victims Unit (SVU) investigators have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with a burglary and criminal sexual conduct investigation from last month.

Tamar Nance is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct, First Degree Burglary, Kidnapping and Financial Transaction Card Theft.

On June 23, 2021, shortly after 5:00 a.m., Nance is accused of breaking into the elderly victim’s Crossbow Drive home, holding her against her will and sexually assaulting her.

He is further accused of stealing her credit card.

The victim received medical treatment at a local hospital.  DNA evidence connected Nance to the crime. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) assisted CPD with the investigation.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
