Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have arrested a 19-year-old male in connection with an isolated, fatal shooting of a teenager last year.

Police Chief W.H. “Skip” Holbrook announces that Terrance Jenkins is charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.  This morning, the U.S. Marshals Service’s Carolinas Regional Task Force, which includes CPD officers located and arrested Jenkins at an Orangeburg County home. Jenkins is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASDGC).

Jenkins is accused of shooting the victim, identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office as 17-year-old Quejon Gill. At this time, it is believed that the shooting happened during a pre-arranged meeting between acquaintances on November 23, 2021.

CPD officers were dispatched to 1155 Clemson Frontage Road for a reported shooting. Officers collected additional forensic and ballistic evidence from the scene with the assistance of a ballistic-detecting K-9.

The CPD’s Violent Crimes Against Persons (VCAP) is investigating.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
