Columbiana Centre Shooting Update: Third Suspect Arrested

Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook announces the arrest of a third male suspect in connection with this weekend’s shooting incident at Columbiana Centre.

21-year-old Amari Sincere-Jamal Smith turned himself in to law enforcement last night. He is charged with Nine Counts of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, Attempted Murder and Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol.

The following suspects have been previously arrested:

20-year-old Marquise Love Robinson and Jewayne Price face the same charges as Smith.

The suspects are accused of being involved in an altercation inside the mall before shots were fired, wounding 9 victims. It’s believed that the shooting stemmed from an on-going and isolated conflict between the suspects.

A Municipal Court judge denied bond for all suspects who remain housed at the Lexington County Detention Center.

Update on Total Number of Victims (x 15)

A total of 15 victims were injured during the incident.

Nine (9) people suffered gunshot wounds; six (6) of the victims suffered other injuries including broken bones lacerations and a head injury while attempting to leave the mall for safety.

A 73-year-old victim who suffered the most serious injury remains in the intensive care unit at a local hospital with a life-altering injury.

CPD investigators have seized two firearm related to the incident. Ballistic evidence collected at the scene will be processed the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

The case is being prosecuted by the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
