Columbia Police Department (CPD) Investigators arrests a man for kidnapping at an apartment complex shortly after an armed robbery at a local convenience store.
Marcas Griffin is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC) on a $15,000 personal recognizance bond for Kidnapping. A second bond hearing for an Armed Robbery charge is set for tomorrow morning.
Shortly after 7:00 a.m. on April 28, 2022, Griffin is accused of using a sharp object, possibly a knife to threaten a clerk at gas station and demanding money while at 4905 Fairfield Road (Shell/Pops Mart). Griffin ran from the scene.
About two hours later, 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call that a man was inside an apartment at 901 Colleton Street holding a female victim against her will and preventing her from calling 9-1-1. Officers who were on routine patrol in the area responded to the call for service and found Griffin inside the victim’s home. He was arrested on scene.
The victims in the cases were not injured. Video surveillance aided CPD officers with the investigations.
All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court law.
