Arrest Made in Fatal Stabbing Investigation

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man last month.

Andra Goodwin was arrested this morning by CPD officers and the United States Marshals Service’s (USMS) Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force at a North Columbia home.

Goodwin is charged with Voluntary Manslaughter and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. He remains housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

On May 22, 2022, the suspect is accused of starting an argument and physical altercation with a male acquaintance while at the 100 block of Wilkes Road. After the two separated, Goodwin allegedly returned to the area, reengaged with the victim, and fatally stabbed him. EMS pronounced the victim deceased on scene.

CPD consulted with the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office regarding the case.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
