Teen Charged in Attempted Murder Investigation

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have charged a teenager in connection with a shooting  that injured a 15-year-old male earlier this summer.

19-year-old Jentry McCombs was arrested today and charged with Attempted Murder, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. McCombs is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

He’s accused of arguing with the teen victim while at 401 Columbiana Drive (Harbison Gardens Apartments) on June 17, 2022.

The victim was shot in the leg area and did not receive a life-threatening injury.

Surveillance cameras captured the incident on video.

While investigators continue to determine the reason for the argument, the shooting is not believed to be random with the suspect and victim being acquaintances.

Crime scene technicians recovered ballistic evidence from scene for processing.

The case is being investigated by the Violent Crimes Against Persons Unit (VCAP).

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
