By August 11, 2022Press Releases

Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers have charged a 13-year-old male in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation.

A juvenile petition for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Failure to Stop for Police Command was issued in the case. The teen was released to the custody of a parent. The suspect will appear in court regarding the case.

An officer patrolling North Columbia last night noticed a car that was reported as stolen. He witnessed the teen driving the car and attempted to make a traffic stop. The suspect is accused of running a red light at the intersection of Lorick Avenue and North Main Street and didn’t stop for blue lights.

The teen soon lost control of the car at the 4200 block of North Main Street and ran away from the scene. The officer ran after him and with the assistance of a CPD K-9 Team, the teen was found hiding behind a house at 1000 block of Wildwood Avenue.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty in a court of law.
