Two Female CPD Officers Given Servant-Leadership Award

By September 11, 2022Press Releases

Congratulations are in order for two female Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers for receiving the ‘Servant-Leadership’ Award from the Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

Chief Holbrook (centered in white shirt with black tie) and Officers Bazel and Rembert (in front of Chief) with fellow award recipients from partner First Responder agencies.

Reverend Brian Marsh said, “We at Eastminster desire to do more to acknowledge and affirm front line First Responders who go above and beyond in the areas of character, compassion, and community building. Please know of our appreciation and regular prayers for First Responders like those of the Columbia Police Department who come alongside people at what are often their worst moments, providing support, care and compassion.”

Today, Police Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook and members of the CPD Command Staff attended the award ceremony and luncheon at the Trenholm Road Church to show support for Officers L. Bazel of Southeast Region and A. Rembert with the Telephone Response Unit.

Both officers have been with CPD for approximately two years and have already displayed professionalism, dedication and a heart of service to the City of Columbia citizens and CPD.

Both officers were nominated among their peers for the prestigious recognition. CPD’s Sgt. S. Desrocher said,  “Officer Bazel is a masterful communicator and exudes professionalism in every citizen reaction. When confronted with the challenge of dealing with citizens who are adverse to interacting with law enforcement, Officer Bazel has proven time and time again to be a valubale asset as she has the ability to break down barriers that can separate the police from citizens and connect them on a personal level. She regularly goes above and beyond without seeking credit for her deeds but simply to be a good person and a valuable asset to the City of Columbia Police Department.”

CPD Sgt. V. Moorer said, “Officer Rembert shows compassion and strength of character at the Columbia Police Department. Officer Rembert always shows sympathy to those who come to Police Headquarters to report a crime. She has gone above and beyond to get assistance for citizens who need guidance or a sympathetic ear to listen. Officer Rembert shows sensitivity to others who are going through a difficult time all while providing excellent customer service.”

In addition to receiving the award, Officers Bazel and Rembert were given a monetary gift.

Congratulations!
