Arrest Made in Lorick Circle Shooting Investigation

Columbia Police Department (CPD) Investigators have arrested a female in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a 13-year-old last week.

According to Chief W.H. “Skip” Holbrook, 32-year-old Iesha R. Daniel is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC) charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime and Possession of a Stolen Pistol.

Daniel was arrested this morning at a Senate Street home by CPD officers and members of the United States Marshals Service’s Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force. With the aid of search warrants, CPD investigators seized multiple guns from the home, including a firearm that was reported stolen from CPD’s jurisdiction.

On June 9, 2023, CPD officers responded to a Shotspotter alert at 100 Lorick Circle, Latimer Manor Apartments, and found the 13-year-old female victim with a non-life-threatening injury to her hand. At this time, it is not believed that the victim was the intended target of the shooting.

Before the shooting happened, several people including Daniel’s juvenile relative were fighting. Daniel’s allegedly shot toward the crowd striking the victim. No other injuries were reported.

CPD investigators have previously charged and arrested 31-year-old Amanda L. Jones in connection with the case. Jones is charged with Assault and Battery – First Degree and Burglary – First Degree after being accused of unlawfully entering a neighbor’s home and assaulting her. The victim did not receive life-threatening injuries.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
