Case Recap:
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on July 9, 2023, CPD officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Ogden Street. When officers arrived, they found Shields with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
An initial responding officer applied lifesaving procedures from his city-issued medical kit to help stop the bleeding until EMS arrived to transport the victim to a local hospital. Medical staff pronounced Shields deceased a short time later.
At this time, CPD investigators believe the two suspects met with Shields and stole a firearm from him moments before the shooting occurred.
All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
