Teen Arrested in Colleton Street Murder Investigation (Gable Oaks Apartments)

Columbia Police Department (CPD) Investigators have arrested a 16-year-old male in connection with the fatal shooting that happened earlier this month at Gable Oaks Apartments.

According to Chief W.H. “Skip” Holbrook the teen suspect was charged this morning with Murder, Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime, Possession of a Pistol by a Person under the age of Eighteen, Unlawful Carry of a Pistol and Armed Robbery.

Since the suspect is a juvenile

He is housed at the juvenile section of the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

Recap of Incident:

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on July 9, 2023, CPD officers were dispatched to 901 Colleton Street (Gable Oaks Apartments) for a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found the 33-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body with no signs of life.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office (RCCO) has identified the victim as Victor D. Glover.

At this time, CPD investigators believe that the suspect met with the victim for a prearranged drug sale.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
