Crimestoppers: Pizza Delivery Driver Fatally Shot

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators are working to determine who fatally shot a pizza delivery employee last night.

CPD officers were dispatched to the Tamarind Apartments located at 143 Stoneridge Drive shortly before 11:00 p.m. and found the 48-year-old male unresponsive.  EMS pronounced him deceased on the scene. The victim has been identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office as Christopher Shirah. Crime scene technicians processed the incident location and collected ballistic evidence.

Pizza Delivery Safety Tips:

  • Be aware of your surroundings / Stay Alert
  • Avoid carrying large amounts of cash
  • Park your vehicle close to the delivery location
  • Do not leave your delivery vehicle running & unattended
  • Ask your employer to contact the customer if:
  • …the delivery location is very dark at night with limited fixed lighting
  • …you feel uncomfortable
  • …the delivery location looks vacant or abandoned, have your employee contact the customer
