Three Teens & Male Adult Charged in Carjacking & Armed Robbery Investigations

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have charged four male youths in connection with three armed robbery and carjacking investigations. Bond has been denied for three of the four suspects.

According to Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook, 19-year-old Michael Jyrel Davis is charged with Armed Robbery, Criminal Conspiracy, and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. A judge set his bond at $75,000. He remains housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

18-year-old Jayden Ny’heim Rainey is charged with Two Counts of Armed Robbery, Carjacking, Two Counts of Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime, and Criminal Conspiracy.

20-year-old Je’Korey Demond Rainey-Smith is charged with Two Counts of Armed Robbery, Carjacking, Two Counts of Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime, and Criminal Conspiracy. The suspect is on probation for weapons charges

18-year-old Lamar Donelle Wilson is charged with Two Counts of Armed Robbery, Carjacking, and Criminal Conspiracy. Suspects Rainey and Rainey-Smith are brothers.

The suspects are accused of stealing vehicles at gunpoint from unsuspecting victims beginning earlier this month.

June 9, 2024

Shortly before midnight

4200 block of Grand Street

The suspects are accused of demanding keys to a 2020 Chevy Equinox at gunpoint from a male victim. CPD officers recovered the stolen vehicle soon after at the 3400 block of West Avenue.

June 16, 2024

Shortly after 2:00 a.m.

1400 block of Grand Street

The suspects are accused of demanding keys to a 2024 Toyota Camry (rental vehicle) from a male victim at gunpoint. CPD officers recovered the stolen vehicle a short time later at the 1500 block of Lorick Avenue.

June 23, 2024

Shortly before 7:00 p.m.

4000 block of Ulmer Road

The suspects are accused of demanding keys to a 2008 Chevy Silverado from a male victim and his 8-year-old son at gunpoint. CPD officers recovered the stolen vehicle at approximately 8:15 p.m. at the 3700 block of Marstellar Street.

Following the vehicle recovery, CPD officers located the suspects at Latimer Manor Apartments located at 100 Lorick Circle. The suspects fled into an apartment where they were arrested without further incident. A subsequent search of the apartment led to the seizure of four firearms, two of which were reported stolen, and drug paraphernalia.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
