Female Arrested in King Street Fatal Shooting

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have charged a 39-year-old female in connection with last weekend’s fatal shooting on King Street.

Police Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook announces that Tamara L. Anderson is charged with Involuntary Manslaughter. Since the arrest, Anderson has been released from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC) on a $100,000 personal recognizance bond.

At approximately midnight on Saturday, August 17, 2024, Anderson is accused of engaging in a verbal altercation with an acquaintance at the 1200 block of King Street.

During the altercation, Anderson allegedly produced a firearm. While attempting to intervene, the victim and Anderson’s cousin, who’s been identified by the Richland County Coroner as Eugene Bell, Junior was accidentally shot. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

CPD Investigators consulted with the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office regarding the case.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
