Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have charged a man in connection with an isolated death investigation from early this morning.
According to Police Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook, 42-year-old Eleazar Del Valle Jeronimo is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC) charged with Voluntary Manslaughter (SC Code of Law: 16-03-0050) and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime (SC Code of Law: 16-23-0490).

Shortly before 7:00 a.m., on December 10, 2025, CPD officers were initially dispatched to the 2300 block of Byrnes Drive after a female was found unresponsive inside the home. EMS pronounced the victim deceased on scene. The victim and suspect were in a relationship. The Richland County Coroner’s Office (RCCO) is assisting CPD with the investigation and will release the victim’s name upon notification of next of kin.
Investigators believe Del Valle Jeronimo argued with the victim before he allegedly used a sharp object to kill her. Officers detained the suspect at the crime scene and transported him to CPD HQ for questioning by investigators. During the interview process and after consulting with the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, investigators arrested Del Valle Jeronimo and filed charges against him.
All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
