COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have arrested Shahean Whetstone and Wa-sheed Cloud in connection with a shooting that occurred Friday, August 14, 2026, in the 1400 block of Marion Street.
CPD officers responded to the 1400 Block Street following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located one victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body.
During the investigation, officers received information regarding a suspect vehicle connected to the incident. CPD officers located the vehicle shortly after the shooting and detained Whetstone and Cloud. Both men were transported to CPD Headquarters and later charged.
Whetstone and Cloud were subsequently arrested and charged with:
- Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature (ABHAN)
- Assault and Battery, First Degree
- Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as appropriate.
As with all defendants, Whetstone and Cloud are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
