Man Charged in Shooting Investigation; Gun Seized during Arrest

North Region officers have charged a 30-year-old man with First Degree Assault and Battery, Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime, and Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol.

Calvin Williams Spry (DOB: 12-13-1986) is being housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. A judge set a $50,000 surety bond.

Spry is accused of shooting at a male at 901 Colleton Street shortly after 9 a.m. on April 29, 2017. No one was injured during the incident.

During the arrest, officer found a handgun and machete on Spry. Both weapons were taken as evidence related to the case.

So far this year, North Region officers have taken 29 handguns, 1 rifle and a shotgun off of the streets.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
