13-36901 (Murder)
On Nov. 16, 2013 at 12:54 am the victim Willie Gilmore age 21 was shot to death outside of 2504 Bailey St. Evidence indicates the victim and suspect were acquainted. There were witnesses to the shooting.
13-36876 (Murder)
On Nov. 15, 2013 at 8:40 pm the victim Nathaniel McKelvin age 21 was shot to death outside of 735 Martha St. Two other victims were also wounded during the shooting. Two unknown men were seen fleeing in a small black car.
12-27701 (Hit and Run Serious Bodily Injury)
On September 16, 2012 at 2:28 in the morning, Palmetto-Richland Hospital nurse Lindsey Bires was struck by a small white vehicle. Prior to being hit by this vehicle, Lindsey Bires was sitting on the curve at 2 Medical Park Drive. The vehicle fled the scene leaving Lindsey critically injured. This vehicle and its driver could not be located or identified.
A $25,000 reward is being offered by the family for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.
12-4005 (Murder)
On Feb. 10, 2012 at 7:00 am the victim Warren Nelson age 46 was found shot to death in the parking lot of Gable Oaks Apts. at 901 Colleton St. Evidence indicates that the shooting happened around 3:45 am.
11-36050 (Missing / Endangered Child)
On December 06, 2011, Columbia Police Investigators began a search for a missing child, Amir Jennings. The mother of this child provided false information to police regarding the child’s whereabouts. In August, 2011, Zinah Jennings was prosecuted for Unlawful Conduct toward a Child and sentenced to 10 years in prison. An exhaustive search of a multi-state area proved fruitless. As of June 27, 2013, Amir Jennings has not been found.
11-34683 (Murder)
On Nov. 25, 2011 at 11:15 pm the victim Otis Williams, Jr. age 37 was found shot to death in a car at the Pitt Stop located at 4452 Devine St. The shooting apparently happened between 5:00 pm and 11:15 pm.
11-732 (Double Murder) SOLVED
On January 9, 2011 at 10:00 in the morning, a family member arrived at the home of Candra Alston located at 195 Brook Pines Drive apartment 13101. After getting no response at the door, he entered the residence and discovered the bodies of Candra Alston (age 26) and her daughter, Malaysia Boykin (age 3). Investigators followed hundreds of leads to no avail. This case remains unsolved.
10-17936 (Murder)
On June 19, 2010 at 12:15 am the victim Gerald McDaniel age 63 was shot to death at the U-Stor Storage facility located at 3415 Two Notch Rd. Robbery was a likely motive and a light colored Chevy Impala was observed leaving the scene.
10-8095 (Murder)
On March 28, 2010 at 3:12 am the victim Aaron Bouknight age 23 was shot to death with an assault rifle in the parking lot of the Richland County Judicial Center located at 1701 Main St. The victim along with friends had just left Club Dreams across the street. They were involved in a confrontation with three men who were driving a burgundy or dark colored SUV. The suspects claimed to be from “The Rock.”
09-22870 (Murder)
On Aug. 8, 2009 at 12:40 am the victim Reginald Johnson age 24 was shot to death at 1004-C Pine St. during a home invasion robbery. As many as four suspects were involved.
09-3437 (Murder and Strong Arm Robbery)
On Feb. 3, 2009 at 8:35 pm the victim Joey Hare age 47 reported that he was assaulted in the parking lot of 1211 Taylor St. by two unknown males and a female known to him as Sonja. The victim was taken to the hospital and died on Feb. 11, 2009.
07-29181 (Murder)
On Sept. 3, 2007 at 1:00 am the victim LaKavis Henicks age 13 was shot to death in the parking lot of the Gaz-Bah at 6201 Farrow Rd. There was a fight among a group of teenagers and several shots were fired. The victim was not the intended target.
07-29089 (Double-Murder)
On Sept. 2, 2007 at 12:02 am the victims Jason Carroll and Derek Chris Spain both age 20 were shot to death in front of building 7 of Ames Manor Apts. located at 5779 Ames Rd. An unknown male had opened fire without warning from the corner of the building.
05-51150 (Murder)
On Oct. 7, 2005 at 12:01 am the partially clothed body of Cheryl Conners age 45 was found in a pathway off of 1700 Van Heise St. The pathway leads to several trailers at 1717 Carnegie St. Evidence indicates the victim was initially assaulted across Van Heise St. in the Crescent Hill Cemetery and then dragged to the pathway.
05-18913 (Murder)
On June 18, 2005 at 10:50 pm the victim Marty Jackson age 34 was shot to death on 600 Sunset Dr. while driving a blue 1992 Nissan Sentra. The victim had just left the McDonalds on Broad River Rd., drove up Sunset Dr., and was preparing to turn left onto Abingdon Rd. when he was shot.
05-4821 (Murder)
On Feb. 15, 2005 at 2:35 am the victim Patrick Watford age 18 was shot to death while standing just inside of his front door at 4311 Catherine Ave. Numerous shots had been fired from the street in front of the victim’s residence.
05-3851 (Murder)
On Feb. 6, 2005 at 1:00 am the body of Rochelle Jenkins age 37 was found stabbed to death in an alley off of 800 Pavilion St. in Five Points. The victim was last seen alive approximately two hours earlier near the Five Points fountain.
04-39185 (Murder)
On Thanksgiving morning Nov. 24, 2004 at 12:50 am Samuel “Mike” Peake age 44 was found shot to death inside of his gold 2000 Chevy Cavalier on 400 Huger St. The victim had managed to drive there after being shot in the back while outside of his vehicle. The shooting probably happened at S. Saluda Ave. and Oceola St. A month earlier at that location a shot had been fired into the rear bumper of the victim’s car.
01-20204 (Murder)
On June 21, 2001 at 11:07 am the body of Mia Livetta Milledge was found on the loading dock at AARO Rentals at 2246 Two Notch Rd. The victim had been dead for several hours and she had been beaten and choked.
98-32775 (Murder)
On Oct. 7, 1998 at 10:15 pm the victim Bernard Bovain age 23 was shot to death on 1900 Oak St. near Allen-Benedict Ct. This was following a verbal confrontation with four to five teenagers regarding the attempted strong arm robbery of a friend of the victim. The suspects then ran behind the Oak-Read High-Rise towards Saxon Homes.
97-8876 (Missing Person)
On March 7, 1997 the victim Jonathan Holmes age 29 was last seen leaving Allen University where he was a student. He was headed to Charleston to pick up a family member. His black 1986 Ford Explorer was found later that night at 10:00 pm completely burned near the I-26 Jedburg exit (# 194) in Dorchester County.
92-31749 (Missing Person)
On Sept 24, 1992 at around 1:30 am the victim Dail Dinwiddie age 23 was last seen leaving Jungle Jim’s at 724 Harden St. in Five Points. Earlier that evening the victim had attended a U-2 concert at Williams-Brice Stadium. She and a large group of friends then went to the Five Points area where she became separated from her friends. She was stranded without a ride home.
86-7754 (Murder)
On March 9, 1986 at 5:40 am the victim Donnell Brown age 32 was found shot to death outside of an apartment building at 2515 Senate St. He was an off-duty SCDC Correctional Officer. His champagne colored 1982 Buick Regal was missing and later recovered close by in King Court Apts. The victim had been robbed and a handgun belonging to him was also missing.
85-51885 (Murder)
On August 31, 1985 at 11:35 am the victim Alexander Washington age 85 was found shot to death inside of his residence at 815 Queen St. The victim was last seen alive the previous evening at 7:30 pm.
84-83081 (Murder and Criminal Sexual Conduct)
On Christmas morning Dec. 25, 1984 at 7:15 am the body of Brenda Green age 26 was found outside of 1013 Pine St. The victim was partially clothed and had been sexually assaulted. The victim was last seen alive around 11:30 pm the previous evening.
84-35905 (Murder)
On June 11, 1984 at 11:59 pm the body of Eunice Howard age 75 was found murdered inside of her residence at 1404 Oak St. A few minutes earlier, neighbors had heard screams and then shots fired. The neighbors then called the police. The victim’s residence had been burglarized and ransacked.
83-22145 (Murder)
On April 30, 1983 at 2:39 pm the body of David Black age 20 was found on the porch of the old Columbia High School located at 1300 Washington St. The victim had been beaten and an effort had been made to set the body on fire with newspapers.
82-45749 (Murder)
On July 26, 1982 at 7:20 am the body of Curtis Wayne Sanders age 38 was found inside of his locked bedroom at his residence at 3016 Beechaven Rd. The victim had been strangled and stereo equipment was missing from the residence.
80-5797 (Murder)
On Feb. 5, 1980 at 7:00 am the body of Margaret Dash Gray age 39 was found in an alleyway off of 2100 Waverly St. She had been beaten and her clothing had been removed.
79-38531 (Murder)
On Aug. 18, 1979 at 1:05 am the body of Linburg Johnson age 48 was found outside of his residence at 1106 Pine St. The victim had been beaten and was last seen at the House of Joy Club on Gervais St.
