CRIMESTOPPERS: Attempted Murder Arrests

By January 12, 2016December 31st, 2016Press Releases

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces the arrests of three suspects in an attempted murder investigation.

LaDarren Daquan Brown (DOB: 12-12-1995) is charged with Attempted Murder, Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol, Failure to Stop on Police Command, Resisting Arrest and Possession of Marijuana.

Dominick Marquil Lewis (DOB: 8-12-1991) and Terrone Jaiquae Anderson (DOB: 1-6-1997) are charged with Attempted Murder and Failure to Stop on Police Command.

The charges stem from a shooting incident that occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. on January 9, 2016.

A Metro officer on patrol heard several gunshots at the 3000 block of Truman Street and saw a car speeding away from the scene. After notifying dispatch, the officer initiated a lawful traffic stop with police blue lights and sirens.

The driver of the car allegedly did not pull over and instead tried to elude the officer. The suspect driver lost control of the car and hit a brick wall at 2500 Waites Road.

Several males got out of the car and ran from police. Additional Metro Region officers responded to the scene to help capture them. Three of the four occupants were caught and arrested (Brown, Lewis and Anderson).

During Brown’s arrest, an officer located a plastic bag containing green plant-like material which field tested positive for marijuana.

At the crash site, officers located two guns inside of the vehicle. The weapons were lawfully confiscated as evidence.

Meanwhile, additional officers circulated the area of Truman Street where the original gunshots were heard and located a male victim with a non-life threatening injury to his arm. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

CPD is working to identify the fourth suspect in the case.
