CRIMESTOPPERS: Attempted Armed Robbery and Assault Investigatoins

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces that CPD is investigating three assault and attempted armed robbery incidents that have similarities.

At least four suspects; three males and a female have tried to steal victim’s vehicles and other belongings earlier this month. Some of the victims were assaulted during the crimes.

The incidents have occurred:

March 2, 2016

6:50 p.m.
5200 Fairfield Road

The male victim tells CPD that a black male suspect tried to assault him in the face with a closed fist while demanding his car keys. The victim was not physically harmed. The suspect ran away from the scene.

March 2, 2016

6:57 p.m.
5050 Fairfield Road

The female victim says she was sitting in her car when three black males approached her. She reports that one suspect got into her car, demanded the car keys, and threatened to physically harm her with a gun. The victim was hit in the face before the suspects ran away from the scene. The victim was able to provide investigators with a description of one of the male suspects. A police sketch of what he may look like comes courtesy of the SC Law Enforcement Division (SLED). 4900 block of Colonial Drive

The female victim reports that four suspects, three black males and a black female approached her in the driveway of a residence. At least one male hit her in the face while he demanded her car keys and attempted to steal her purse.

 

The suspects were not successful in stealing vehicles or other property during the crimes.
The suspects are described as being young and wearing hoodies, one suspect wore short dreadlocks.
