Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces that bond has been denied for a man accused in an attempted murder investigation at a local apartment complex.

Derrick D. Lott (DOB: 10-22-1991) is charged with Two Counts of Attempted Murder and Six Counts of Assault and Battery in the First Degree.

Lott was named as a suspect on Friday, May 20, 2016 and turned himself in to CPD yesterday afternoon.

Lott is accused of shooting at several people on Thursday, May 19, 2016 as they stood outside of Allen- Benedict Apartments located on Laurel Street. A male victim, who was shot in the lower leg, was transported to a local hospital for his non-life threatening injury.

Shots were allegedly fired at two additional pedestrians and a vehicle occupied by an adult and three children. No one else was injured during the incident.

It is believed that the shooting stemmed from a previous argument between Lott and the injured victim.

Lott was questioned by CPD Investigators with his attorney present and then transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
