Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook joined other Chiefs, City Managers and Mayors representing 14 cities across the United States, along with representatives from the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the White House to announce the Advancing 21st Century Policing Project.

The hands-on assessment involves new recommendations on the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing and coincides with this week’s release of the one-year progress report of the Task Force plan.

Fourteen police agencies such as the Atlanta Police Department, Tucson Police Department, Louisville (Kentucky) Metro Police Department, and San Antonio Police Department are also participating.

Additionally, CPD will be provided training and technical assistance from CNA Analysis and Solutions to strengthen implementation of the advancing project recommendations and action items.

At the conclusion of the 17-month project period, CNA will devise a 21st Century Policing Field Operations Guide. The document, according to the research organization will feature “lessons learned” and case studies of each of the participating agencies and serve as a “how to” guide for the field.
