By June 15, 2016December 31st, 2016Press Releases

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces that CPD investigators have determined that yesterday’s Garners Ferry Road shooting was an isolated incident. In the meantime, officers continue to follow leads and figure out a motive.

The shooting occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. on June 14, 2016 at 7520 Garners Ferry Road in South Columbia.

The male victim who was shot remains in the hospital for his non-life threatening injury to the lower body. No one else was injured during the shooting; two cars were damaged.

After the shooting, a white sedan was seen leaving the area and was later located on Decker Boulevard by Richland County Sheriff’s Deputies. The car was reported stolen from Richland County.

CPD Investigators confirm that the same car is connected to the store shooting.
They also interviewed the six occupants last night and continue to ascertain whether or not they were involved in the incident.

Witnesses who fled the scene after the shooting are strongly encouraged to call Crimestoppers to aid CPD with the investigation. The Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office is assisting CPD with the case.
