Arrests in Wal-Mart Shooting Investigation

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces the arrests of two adults and two juveniles in connection with last week’s shooting at the Garners Ferry Wal-Mart.

The incident that happened on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, injured a male in the midsection. He was taken to a local hospital for his non-life threatening wound.

As a result, Vernon Lee Hayes III (DOB: 1-7-1994) and a 16-year-old male are charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Quinton Xzavier Foster (DOB: 1-31-1997) and a second 16-year-old male are charged with Attempted Murder. The suspects were charged today.

CPD named the individuals as suspects from forensic evidence and while gathering information during the course of the investigation.

While CPD continues to investigate a motive for the shooting and additional charges, Investigators believe the incident stemmed from previous disagreements between the victim and suspects.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law. Bond Information:

16-year-old male – $100K Surety Bond; No 10% – Ankle monitoring and house arrest if bail posted Foster – $60K Surety Bond; No 10% – Ankle monitoring and house arrest if bail posted 16-year-old male – $80K Surety Bond; No 10% – Ankle monitoring and house arrest if bail posted
