Shooting Investigation Update

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces that investigators continue to determine how a man was shot in South Columbia last night.

The incident occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of King and Bratton Streets.

Preliminary information indicates that Torrence Scott (DOB: 8-3-1988) repeatedly assaulted a male victim while he sat in a car at the location. During the physical altercation, Scott was shot in the lower leg and walked away from the scene. The victim drove away.

Since the shooting, Scott has been treated and released from a local hospital and transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Scott, who has been uncooperative with CPD, is charged with Disorderly Conduct and Driving under Suspension.

Investigators continue to identify and locate the victim to gather additional information on the incident.
