Sex Crime Investigation Arrest

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces the arrest of a former assistant football coach accused of having sexual intercourse with a student.

Michael E. Salley (DOB: 6-7-1991) turned himself in to CPD investigators yesterday morning. He is charged with Sexual Battery with a Student (16 or 17 years of age, no aggravated force or coercion).
He was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Preliminary information indicates that on or about December 24, 2015, Salley allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a 17-year-old student from Gray Collegiate Academy at a home on Old Woodlands Road in South Columbia.

An administrator notified police on October 13, 2016 after being advised of the allegation from another faculty member.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
