By December 7, 2016December 31st, 2016Press Releases

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces that an officer prevented a home burglary from occurring at an East Columbia neighborhood after making two narcotics arrests.

An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Beaver Lake Drive on Sunday, December 4, 2016 for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a cul-de-sac at Woodcreek Farms.

As the officer investigated the claim, she found two males sitting inside a 2012 Jeep. The officer immediately noticed that the men kept moving throughout the vehicle as she approached. The officer also saw syringes on the floorboard and center console of the Jeep.

During initial questioning, one of the suspects told the officer that he had a loaded semi-automatic handgun under his leg. As the man complied with police commands to get out of the vehicle, the officer also observed handcuffs, binoculars, a crow bar, gloves and ski masks on the floor board of the passenger’s side of the vehicle. The officer detained both suspects and called for additional officers to come to the scene.

As a result, Randal Christian Duvall (DOB: (2/22/1991) and Joshua Scott Tisdale (DOB: 12-27-1990) are charged with Possession of Heroin, Criminal Conspiracy, and Possession of Burglary Tools. (Tools capable of being used in a crime).

One of the suspects admitted to officers that he and the co-defendant had just used heroin and planned to break into a Beaver Lake Drive home with the tools that were discovered.

After searching the Jeep, officers located a brown/white powdery substance which field tested positive for heroin. Officers also found a machete, along with women’s jewelry, various coin collections, several
$2 bills, and pawn slips.

CPD investigators shared arrest and intelligence information with several surrounding law enforcement partners. As a result, it was determined that the jewelry, cash and coins CPD officers found in the Jeep were taken from a home in the Richland County Sheriff’s Department’s (RCSD) jurisdiction.
