CPD NEWS UPDATE: Charges Upgraded for Suspect

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces that Investigators have consulted with the Solicitor’s office regarding upgraded charges for 29-year-old Jirmane Kakieth Mobley (DOB: 12- 13-1987) following the announcement of the shooting victim’s death on December 19, 2016.

The victim was positively identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office as Justin Jones, 26, of Ridgewood Camp Road, Columbia, SC. Columbia Police Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that lead to the death of the victim.

Mobley was previously charged with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature and Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol, on Monday, December 19, he received warrants for the upgraded charge of Murder in connection with a shooting in North Columbia on December 10, 2016.
