By February 1, 2017Press Releases

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces a joint investigation with the Columbia Fire Department (CFD) and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) regarding a deadly fire that occurred over the weekend at Plantation Court Apartments.

After conferring with the CFD investigators, it has been determined that the 209 South Saluda Avenue fire was intentionally set and resulted in the death of an 80-year-old woman who has been previously identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office as True Dent Henderson.

Therefore, CPD is treating this case as a homicide until or unless evidence determines otherwise.

Evidence collected at the scene by CFD Investigators on January 29, 2017 has been submitted to SLED for further testing.
