The Columbia Police Department and the Richland County Coroner’s Office are conducting a joint investigation at the 100 block of Earth Road after a male walker discovered human remains in the woods.
The citizen notified officers at approximately 1:00 p.m. at CPD’s East Region office located nearby on Spears Creek Church Road. Officers went to the discovery location and contacted the Richland County Coroner’s Office.
An anthropologist is also assisting with the investigation. The Richland County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
