Arrest Made in Five Points Assault Investigation

Columbia Police Investigators have charged a 20-year-old man accused of assaulting a male victim at a Five Points business last month.

Jalen Antwan Dread (DOB: 8-9-1996) turned himself in to police at Columbia Police Headquarters shortly before noon today. He was served with a Simple Assault arrest warrant and taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC). Investigators do not expect to charge anyone else in connection with the case.

Dread is accused of striking a male victim multiple times in the face after an argument on April 29, 2017 inside the Five Points Saloon located at 812 Harden Street.  The victim refused medical treatment at the scene.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video and conducted several interviews related to the case, and have determined that Deebo Samuel was not at the incident location during the altercation. Skai Moore was present, but did not participate in the assault.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
