Crimestoppers: Female Park Ranger Assaulted

Columbia Police Officers and a K-9 Team have been searching for the man accused of assaulting a female park ranger today.

The incident happened around 11:00 a.m. at 4122 River Drive after the ranger told the man that fishing was prohibited at that location.

The victim reported to responding officers that the man became agitated and assaulted her by pushing her into rocks and causing a back injury.

A witness was nearby and  tried to help, but the suspect allegedly threw the man’s glasses into the water before running away from the scene.

The park ranger was taken to a local hospital for her non-life threatening injury. No one else was physically hurt during the incident.

At this time, a description of the suspect is limited.  Officers continue to gather more information about the crime and suspect, including speaking with both victims again.
