Columbia Police Investigators have charged three juvenile males in connection with an armed robbery and car theft investigation from last week.

One suspect is charged in another armed robbery case from the same day.

The charges are as followed:

* 15-year-old male: Armed Robbery, Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Petit Larceny.

*14-year-old male: Armed Robbery, Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Petit Larceny,  Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime, and Assault and Battery – First Degree.

*13-year-old male: Armed Robbery and Petit Larceny.

All three males turned themselves in to CPD officers. Two of the males’ relatives saw their loved ones in surveillance pictures as being wanted and called police.

The charges stem from a June 20,2017 incident that occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Providence Street.

The male victim reports that three males approached him at gunpoint and demanded his vehicle, wallet, cell phone and watch.

Even though the victim complied with the demands, the 14-year-old is accused of hitting the man in the head with the gun. The victim was not seriously injured and refused EMS. The teen is further accused of shooting in the air before all of the suspects left in the stolen vehicle. The 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee was found abandoned on Falling Springs Road later the same day.

The 15-year-old male is also charged with Armed Robbery and Petit Larceny at 100 Ripplemeyer Avenue around 10:00 p.m. on the same day as the first incident.

The suspect is accused of stealing money, a cell phone and food from a Express China delivery employee. The victim was not injured during the crime.

The teens are currently confined/housed in the juvenile section of the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).  All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
