Investigators with the Columbia Police Department’s (CPD) Special Victims Unit (SVU) have charged a 33-year-old man in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving a minor.
Michael J. Easton (DOB: 4-13-1984) has been arrested and charged with Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, First Degree Assault and Battery and Kidnapping.
Easton was arrested yesterday in Natchez, Mississippi by the United States Marshals Service and members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).
Easton is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl for several years. The female, who is now 12-year-old, recently disclosed the information to a relative, who in turn called CPD. The most recent alleged crime occurred on July 21, 2017 at a Stoneridge Drive apartment.
Easton is being held at Adams County Detention Facility in Mississippi awaiting extradition to South Carolina.
All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
