Overnight Shooting Investigation Ends with Arrest

Columbia Police officers have made an arrest in connection with an isolated overnight shooting investigation.

As a result, 33-year-old Clayton Bernard Madison (DOB: 6-13-1984) is at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime. 

He was arrested close to the crime scene.

Investigators interviewed several witnesses and have determined that Madison argued and fought with another man regarding a personal problem at approximately 3:00 a.m. at the Woodland Terrace Apartments located at 320 S. Beltline Boulevard.

During the altercation, Madison is accused of shooting the 58-year-old male victim in the upper body. At last check, he was in stable condition at a local hospital.

When officers arrived at the crime scene, they found the injured victim lying on the ground at the apartment complex. They immediately used materials in their city-issued first aid kit to administer medical aid until EMS arrived.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
