Update: Arrest Made in Downtown Vandalism Investigation

Columbia Police officers have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a series of vandalism incidents in the downtown area.

Tyler Chase-Ashton Loyd (DOB: 6-13-1997) is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and charged with Five Counts of Vandalism.

Loyd is accused of throwing rocks and vehicles and buildings at the following locations:

  •  822 Gervais Street  (Hampton Inn) – window damage: $3,000
  • 2000 Harden Street –  Comet bus window damage: $500
  • 1301 Gervais Street (Colliers International)– window damage: $40,000
  • 300 Blossom Street – vehicle windshield: $500
  • 1200 Main Street –  (ABC Columbia) window panel: $2,000
  • 1201 Main Street – (Capitol Center) glass door: $2,500

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
