Three Sisters Accused of Assaulting a 12-Year-Old Girl

Columbia Police investigators have arrested three sisters accused of assaulting a 12-year-old girl earlier this month.

Shaquana Bacote (DOB: 10-14-1988) is charged with Assault – First, Burglary – First and Malicious Injury to Property. (Charged on 10-11-17)

Shontavia Bacote (DOB: 12-21-1995) is charged with Assault – First, Burglary – First and Strong Arm Robbery. (Charged 10-16-17)

Zaquiera Bacote (DOB: 12-23-1999) is charged with Assault – First, Burglary – First. (Charged 10-16-17)

The charges stem from a fight that occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. on October 1, 2017 at the 1500 block of Craven Street.

The trio is accused of going into the minor victim’s house without permission and assaulting her several times, by either punching or slapping the girl in the face. The victim did not receive life threatening injuries.

Shontavia Bacote is also accused of stealing the victim’s cell phone before the suspects left the home.

Investigators believe that the motive for the assault was a previous disagreement between the victim and the suspects’ young relative.

The suspects were booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
