Crimestoppers | Man Accused of Committing Several Crimes

Columbia Police Department (CPD) Investigators have outstanding warrants for the arrest of a man accused of committing several property crimes.

In one case, Marcus Tyrone Drayton (DOB: 1-3-1984) is accused of breaking into a female victim’s home on College Street on October 3, 2017 and stealing a purse while she slept. When she awoke, she confronted Drayton before he ran away from the scene.

Minutes later, Drayton was seen on surveillance video using the victim’s credit card at a nearby ATM and stealing her money.

Arrest warrants for Burglary -Second Degree, Larceny, Financial Transaction Card Theft, Financial Transaction Card Fraud, and Financial Identity Fraud for Drayton have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.

Drayton was also identified as a suspect in a car theft case from October 23, 2017 at 822 Gervais Street. Drayton is accused of breaking the window out of a Dodge Ram and stealing the $15,000 vehicle. It’s believed that he started the truck with a spare key that was left inside of the vehicle.

Two days later, Drayton allegedly sold a stolen iPad from the truck at a local store. At the time, the suspect was seen on surveillance video wearing the victim’s green jacket.

Once arrested in this case, Investigators will charge him with Grand Larceny.
