Teen Identified as Suspect in Deadly Shooting Investigation

Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers have identified a male suspect who’s now wanted in connection with a deadly shooting from Samson Circle last weekend.

Investigators have outstanding arrest warrants for 18-year-old Gwan Lamont Perry, Jr.

Once found, Perry will be charged with Murder, Attempted Murder, Attempted Strong Arm Robbery, and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.  The warrants have been entered in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.

The shooting incident occurred on March 25, 2018 at 41 Samson Circle. When North Region officers arrived on the scene, they found an unresponsive male inside  the home.

The victim has been identified by Richland County Coroner Gary Watts as 30-year-old Cory Cornelius Jenkins (DOB: 10-13-1987).

Watts determined that Jenkins died from gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Officers also found a second victim inside the home; the 64-year-old male suffered from a gunshot wound to the upper arm and was transported to a local hospital by EMS.

His injury does not appear to be life-threatening.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an argument and are working to determine the exact circumstances.
