Update | Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested

Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers have arrested a 39-year-old man who was wanted for two alleged violent crimes against women.

Floyd Gholson, who was apprehended yesterday afternoon in the area of Myers Street and Ames Road in North Columbia, is charged with Assault & Battery of a High & Aggravated Nature and Domestic Violence – First Degree.

The first charge stems from a June 5, 2018 allegation that Gholson punched a female acquaintance in the face while on James Street. After the assault, the victim fell backwards, causing her head to hit concrete. She continues to receive medical treatment.

The second charge stems from a June 6, 2018 allegation that Gholson hit another female acquaintance multiple times in the face and body while at an Elmwood Avenue home.

After this incident, the victim fell face forward on the ground. At one point, Gholson is accused of pointing a gun at her while making threats.

Gholson was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
