Update | Stabbing Victim Dies from Injuries

The male victim who was stabbed in the upper body in North Columbia last weekend has passed away as a result of his injuries.

Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers are now investigating the case as a murder and continue  to determine the person (s) responsible for the stabbing.

According to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts, 33-year-old Rodney Stewart was pronounced deceased at a local hospital earlier today. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

Stewart was stabbed while at 2417 Kent Street on July 8, 2018.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim on the outside of the residence with serious injuries.

Officers immediately rendered aid from a department-issued medical kit until EMS arrived and took the victim to the hospital.
