CPD Officer Arrests Assault Suspect Shortly After Crime

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have arrested a 34-year-old man accused of assaulting a female victim during a robbery incident over the weekend.

Jason Davis (DOB: 12-11-1983) is charged with Assault and Battery – First Degree and Strong Arm Robbery. Davis allegedly demanded the victim’s money while in the parking lot of 4467 Devine Street (Wal Greens) shortly before 10:00 a.m. on July 15, 2018.

Davis is also accused of pushing the victim to the ground and punching/kicking her before stealing cash.  A witness who flagged down the officer, provided a description of the suspect and his direction of travel.

A 9-1-1 dispatcher also provided a description of the suspect which aided the officer in locating Davis walking near a store on Beltline Boulevard. The officer found the stolen cash in Davis’ clothing.

After being questioned by investigators, Davis was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC). Today, a judge set Davis’ bond at $100,000.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless guilty in a court of law.
