By September 26, 2018Press Releases

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a female victim.

Gregory Bernard Roberts, Junior (DOB: 3-1990) was arrested last night and charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree, Kidnapping, Assault and Battery – First Degree and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Earlier this month, Roberts allegedly forced a female acquaintance to his residence where he repeatedly assaulted her with his hands and a gun and threatened to physically harm her and a relative if she left.

The victim managed to escape to safety and flagged down a motorist who took her to CPD Headquarters to talk with officers about the alleged crime.

In addition to these pending charges, in August, Roberts allegedly forced another female into a vehicle at gunpoint. He is accused of threatening to shoot her if she didn’t comply with his demands.

The victim tells CPD investigators that Roberts took her back home after several hours. The victim was not physically harmed during the incident.

Roberts is currently housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
