Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have returned a murder suspect to South Carolina after extraditing him from Florida in connection with a 2015 murder investigation.

Late yesterday afternoon, 55-year-old Carlos Enrique Lowe (DOB: June 1963) was brought back to Columbia from Orlando, Florida.

A CPD Cold Case investigator and one assigned to the United States Marshals Service (USMS) under Operation Intercept Fugitive Task Force, traveled to Florida earlier this week to pick up Lowe from the Orange County Detention Center. Lowe was incarcerated there since September on a Fugitive from Justice warrant.

Lowe is now housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC) charged with MurderFirst Degree Criminal Sexual ConductKidnapping and First Degree Burglary.

Lowe is accused of breaking into 46-year-old Ann Marie Johnson’s home in September 2015 and sexually assaulting and murdering her. Johnson is a former acquaintance of the suspect.

DNA evidence that was collected at the crime scene in 2015 and processed by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) aided in the arrest.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
