By December 14, 2020Press Releases

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators arrested a 55-year-old man at a cemetery after  a convenience store armed robbery.

A judge has denied bond for Adam Green after he allegedly stole money from the Lil Cricket located at 2715 North Main Street on December 9, 2020.

Green is accused of threatening to harm a clerk while demanding money from the register.  In an effort to stop Green from leaving the area, a male and female tackled him to the ground. During the tussle, the couple was able to grab Green’s ID card which aided the investigation and the stolen money which was later returned to the store.  Afterwards, Green managed to ran away from the scene.  Moments later, CPD officers arrived at the store to investigate.

Later that night, CPD officers found Green inside a car at the Flying J Truck Stop on Buckner Road. CPD officers initiated a traffic stop but Green refused to stop and crashed into several tombstones at an adjacent cemetery.

As a result, Green was charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Crime of Violence, Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime, Possession of a Firearm by Person Convicted of a Violent Crime, Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Siren, and Desecration of Human Burial Ground.

Green is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC). All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
