Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators are following active leads in a deadly shooting that occurred last night in South Columbia.
Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Elmtree Road shortly after 11:30 p.m. on December 17, 2020.
At this time, it appears that the shooting stemmed from an argument between two male acquaintances inside an apartment. The victim, who has been identified by Richland County Coroner as 34-year-old Avery McQueen died from a gunshot wound to the upper body. After the shooting, the suspect left the scene. Based on information gathered during the investigation, the incident appears to be isolated.
